Award for Projects to Improve Health Care in Honduras Using Computers

 


ithc honduras The Institute for Technology in Health Care (ITHC) has established awards others interested in health care using computers or technology in any field that favorably affects health care in Honduras.

Recipients must collaborate with a school or health care service delivery organization (clinic, hospital), or an accredited organization in the development of practical demonstration projects, showing how they have improved health care service delivery in the area where the student or interested person lives using computer system(s) or other technology.

The end result should be, for example, a model algorithm or a completed project description of practical steps which can be used by others and the presentation should stimulate others to further utilize computers or technology in their work.

The proposal to the ITHC must include a letter from the school, organization, or the collaborating health care service delivery institution confirming the intent and schedule for the project and presentation or publication. The organization will be the  sponsor group.

The award can be distributed as the sponsoring organization deems appropriate for the project after approval by the Institute.

The sponsor group will provide logistical support, i.e., coordination of presentations, media coverage, propagation of presentation, etc., and distribute the award to the student or researcher.

This award is provided in memory of The Honorable Julian R. and Mariana Caceres. Dr. Caceres was the First Ambassador of Honduras to the United States.

Award for Projects to Improve Health Care in Honduras Using Computers


El Instituto de Tecnologia para el Cuidado de la Salud (ITCS) ofrece premio a estudiantes equivalente a $1000 dolares a estudiantes o personas interesadas en la salud con el uso de computadoras o tecnologias utilizadas en otros campos, que afecte favorablemente el cuidado de la salud en Honduras.

Los participantes deben colaborar en una escuela o en una organizacion (clinicas, hospitales) que aporte servicios relacionados con el desarollo o demostracion de proyectos prcticos, que demuestren con el uso de la computadora u otra tecnologia, como estos proyectos han mejorado los servicios de salud en el sector donde reside el estudiante o la persona interesada.

El resultado final debe ser, por ejemplo, un modelo de algoritmos o una descripcion de los pasos seguidos que cambiaron los existentes por los resultados obtenidos con el uso de la computadora u otras tecnologias. Los resultados deben ser practicos para que otras personas puedan utilizarlos y su presentacion debe estimular a otros con el continuo uso de computadoras o tecnologiasen sus trabajos.

La solicitud debe incluir una carta de la escuela, de la organizacion o institucion que ofrece el servicio de cuidado a la salud, que confirme su intencion y programacion del proyecto, su presentacion y publicacion. Ellos seren el "grupo auspiciador".

El premio, equivalente a US$1000 puede ser distribuido segen la organizacion auspiciadora lo considere conveniente para el proyecto despues de haber sido aprobado por el Instituto. El grupo auspiciador proveere la logistica de apoyo, i.e. coordinacion de presentaciones, proposicion a los medios de comunicacion, propagacion de la proposicion, etc. y distribucion del premio al estudiante o investigador.

Este premio se ofrece a la memoria de Mariana y Julien R. Caceres, quien fue el Primer Embajador de Honduras en los Estados Unidos.
